Summary:  This project prototypes a rapid flood mapping system effectively leveraging existing citizen sensor networks (social sensing) and big data computing technologies, with the aim to bridge the gap between information on the ground (Twitter data) and key decisions about how to deal with floods by turning massive volumes of data into actionable intelligence in near-real time.
