Our mission:
The International Center of Excellence on Big Earth Data for Coasts (ICoE-Coast) is a joint program between Department of Geography, USC, and the Hainan Key Laboratory of Earth Observation, China, established through the International Digital Belt and Road (DBAR) Science Program. The mission of the ICoE-Coast is to enable and support scientific activities by advancing Earth observation science, technology, data integration and dissemination to address environmental changes, disasters and resilience in coastal zones. In its initial phase (2018-2022), the objectives of the ICoE are to:
1) advance scientific understanding of the interacting processes of Earth systems at the interface between land and sea;
2) foster collaborative research on new approaches of Big Earth Data on coastal monitoring;
3) enhance capacity building through undergraduate and graduate student training, workshops and symposia, and other interactive activities within the coastal community.
